Laura Harding, arts patron and great granddaughter of financier Jay Cook, purchased Bayonet Farm in 1936. This ramshackle cottage was once home to her beloved Weimaraners. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Rumson, Ms. Harding’s debutante ball was attended by scions of the Rockefeller family and other prominent members of society. Ms. Harding then briefly pursued an acting career where she met and became life-long friends with Katherine Hepburn. Later, Ms. Hepburn and Spencer Tracy were regular guests at Bayonet Farm.
